A quite decent experience right in ‘The Zone’: Restaurant PATTIS (27. March 2023)
The PATTIS was ranked with 4.6 on Google, so, I definitely had to give the place a try! And I’m glad I did, since the place is located in The Zone, which is kind of a mall area, but outdoor where you find a lot of different restaurants. I asked them to time my starters and only serve the main, once they were done. And they actually managed (which doesn’t happen all too often in the region). I started with the “home-made hummus” (20.00 SAR), and I must say, it was rather tasty, despite the fact that the pita bread was somewhat different from normally with its own seasoning.
The “chicken chimichurri salad (a unique combination of flavour salad, mixed greens, grilled corn, avocado, corn-fed grilled chicken mixed with aromatic chimichurri sauce)” (64.00 SAR) was labelled as a starter, but I think they meant ‘a starter to share’, since ultimately, the size of the portion was quite big! It was also rather tasty, and surprisingly healthy compared to any food I have had so far in the region.
As a main course, I went for the “chicken dum biryani (slow-fired fragrant and aromatic curry flavoured rice and chicken with cashew nuts, fried onion and golden raisins)” (48.00 SAR), which was definitely good, but the ratio between rice and meat was definitely off. There were five tiny pieces of meat in the whole bowl and you would basically feed a whole family with the amount of rice in that bowl. So, definitely on the generous side. That being said, it was not only generous, but it was also good in taste.
All in all, I liked the PATTIS since the place is nice in terms of atmosphere (as are most places in The Zone), the food is good, it’s on the relatively cheap side and the service is absolutely friendly and attentive.
