A place you just visit because you’re hungry after walking through the Schönbrunn gardens: Café Gloriette (10. April 2023)

| June 14, 2023 | 0 Comments

This is not a place you come to for the food. This is a place you visit because you decided to have a closer look at Schönbrunn Castle and walk all the way up the hills through the Schönbrunn gardens to get a view from above. And when you’re thirsty and hungry arriving at the top, the Café Gloriette i the place where you get a bit of something between your teeth to strengthen yourself to get back down again. The “sausages with mustard and horseradish” (EUR 9.00) are definitely at the upper end of the price scale for being two regular sausages. To be fair though, I think I’ve never tried the actual combination of mustard with horseradish, and it turns out that this is quite delicious.

The “salad in season with ham, cheese and egg” (EUR 12.90) was, well, a salad. I mean, sure, there were a lot of ingredients, and they were quite okay, but personally, this is very far from delicious food.

At least the bread was quite nice – cumin is not really something for everyone, but all in all, it was decent.

So, as I mentioned, you don’t come here for the food, but you come here for the view, respectively, to get the energy to walk back down again. Also, bring some patience, since the number of spaces is limited and people are queueing to eat here.
