A lovely place but rather average food: Restaurant L’Édito (20. May 2023)
When you are looking to avoid a tourist trap while being located at the main square of Chalons-en-Champagne, don’t stay at the main square. The L’Édito looked relatively promising, and I must admit that my burger was actually quite decent. The food of the others, not so much.
The “Double Édito Burger Royal (viande de boeuf français hachée, cheddar, oignons)” (EUR 22.90) was actually quite okay. Sure, not the best meat patty I’ve had in my entire life, but definitely decent, and with the cheese and the onions, it made for an acceptable burger. The fries were okay, and so was the side salad. To be honest, it’s not like you should expect much more, but it does what it promises.
The area to sit outside is quite nice, though, and you get to enjoy the sun (if you decide to find a spot in the sun). The staff is friendly and generally speaking attentive, hence, it is a bit atypical for French restaurants. So, to sum it up, if you want to be in a non-tourist trap, go somewhere else. If you are fine with a decent tourist trap, then the L’Édito is actually okay.
