Welcome to Germany, where you still can’t pay by card: Restaurant Baden Hills Golf und Curling Club eV (28. May 2023)
After having played 18 holes at a quite nice golf course, the Baden Hills, it was time to have a brief lunch, so I went for the “Insalata Cesarone (salads, turkey stripes, pancetta, black olives, garlic croutons, shaved Parmesan, egg yolk)” (EUR 16.80), which was actually quite decent, respectively, definitely better than expected. I absolutely liked the bacon, which was not fatty, but nicely crispy.
The staff is friendly and attentive and when you order something to drink, then it’s brought to you within minutes, which is great (especially if you have played a round of golf at around 28 degrees or more). The only thing I find absolutely and quite massively confusing about the place, but also about Germany as a whole, is the fact that you cannot pay by card. I mean, come on, there was a global pandemic, which just taught us to not touch as much, it’s the 21st century, people use apps to pay – and in Germany, you pay … cash! And at a golf club!
