The perfect place for a summer dinner in a lovely and quiet garden patio: Ristorante Da Angela (12. June 2023)

| July 31, 2023 | 0 Comments

I have only good memories of the Da Angela – I think, I’ve been there for the first time more than 20 years ago. At least it feels this way. If you’re going in summer, you should definitely sit outside in the little garden patio, which is lovely in terms of atmosphere, covered in the shadow under the tree leaves, it’s rather perfect. As a little amuse bouche from the kitchen, you get something rather simple, i.e., “polenta, olives, salami”, but it’s a good start for the evening.

The staff is friendly and attentive and makes sure you are taken care of well throughout the entire evening (even if you’re there for a few hours). I went for the “ravioli al burro e salvia” (CHF 24.00) as a starter and while it’s obviously a super simple dish, it was also absolutely great. The ravioli were cooked to perfection, al dente, and the butter and sage sauce they were swimming in was just to slurp – delicious!

As a main, I went for the “scaloppine al limone con paglia e fieno” (CHF 47.00), which was perfectly thin, as it should be. The lemon sauce was good, but it was a tiny bit too sour for my personal gusto. Still, it worked.

Originally, I didn’t want the noodles, but wanted to go for the lemon risotto (since it just sounded so tasty). However, luckily, I must say, the waiter told me that probably combining lemon with lemon would be too much. And, of course, he is right (just didn’t think about it when ordering), and he suggested me the “risotto al zaferano”, which was absolutely great. Perfect texture, perfect flavour profile, as it should be.

Ultimately, we went on to share a “cheese platter” (CHF 18.00), where we had told the guy that we wanted to share one plate. Hence, they actually split the plate directly and served the portion on two plates, which is quite amazing (I mean, it should be natural, but ultimately, it’s something you barely every see). The cheese selection was decent, nothing to go far for (so kind of the weakest course that evening), but still decent.

The staff is very friendly and super attentive – all in all, I quite enjoyed the dinner in the Da Angela, yet another time. Since the place is famous and good for years already, it is highly recommended that you book a table in advance, so you actually have a chance to dining there.
