Overall a lovely 1 Michelin star experience with an interesting wine pairing: Restaurant Sinne (18. June 2023)

| August 4, 2023 | 0 Comments

I was intrigued by the Sinne since it had a Michelin star, but it seemed like the menu was still very reasonably priced. Once you’re seated, you’re immediately served somed “bread & spread”, and that was sufficiently tasty to get started.

The “tasting menu” (EUR 97.50) with the “wine pairing” (EUR 78.00) then starts with a few bites like “gouda” or “yellow beet dumplings”, which were quite nice to get your palate started.

The first course of the evening was the “hake ceviche with a Thai cookie, and yellow curry”, and I must say, that it was a good start – full of flavour and overall an enjoyable bite, but really not more than a bite.

The next one was rather interesting – “watermelon tartare with shallots”, which is a combination you don’t encounter all too often, but it was a well-working combination and very enjoyable as a bite.

Next in line was the “turbot filet with white asparagus and barbecued leek”, which was okay, but as a whole rather uneventful.

The main course was nice – the “veal with spicy carrots, jus de veau and chanterelles” worked incredibly well together, and I also found the size of the portion satisfying.

The selection of “friandises” wasn’t massive, but it was good and, while largely chocolate-based, a nice ending to dinner.

What I specifically liked about the Sinne was the openness and friendliness of the waiter – and the fact that the selection of wines with the wine pairing, despite them being mostly white, was actually great. So, all in all, the Sinne isn’t a Michelin star restaurant, where you’re like absolutely blown away by the quality of the food, but it’s a Michelin star restaurant, which provides you with a lovely experience overall – from the good food, to the better and caring service, and the nice atmosphere the place has. Since the place is rather tiny, I would highly recommend you to book a table in advance, and take the risk to lose the “prepayment” (of EUR 40.00 per person).
