Delicious gaos and baos in a food hall: Bao Gao Club 包餃會 @ Markthalle Neun (23. June 2023)
It’s been a while since I’ve been to the Markthalle Neun and after a super rainy day, it was the perfect place to warm up a bit over a few tasty bites. We went to the “Bao Gao Club 包餃會” and ordered the “CaiRou Bao (fluffy steamed buns with minced pork, spring onion and shiitake mushrooms; 3 pieces)” (EUR 6.60), which were lovely as they were not too gooey as you would expect them to be due to the large amount of dough, but actually delicious.
The “pork & corn gao (with chilli oil sauce; 10 pieces)” (EUR 13.50) were amazing. Not only because the stuffing was great, but also because the whole thing was just a very well-functioning combination of flavours and texture.
The third dish we had (unfortunately, I forgot to write down the name), was as great. Less spicy, but as great.
The place is rather simple and doesn’t have its own area to sit down, but if you manage to find a space, it’s rather nice to just sit there, get your food and drinks from different stalls, and enjoy it.
So, if it’s pouring cats and dogs outside, the Markthalle Neun is nice to warm up – and if it’s not, it’s also nice to get some good dishes.
