Simple place with a nice view over Berne and decent dishes: Restaurant Veranda (26. June 2023)
What I absolutely enjoyed about the restaurant Veranda was the little garden patio. If you’re early enough, and you get to pick your table, you can sit in the shade under the trees in the garden outside, which is, truly, quite lovely. The staff is friendly and attentive, and makes sure you have everything you need. Sometimes, it’s combined with a bit of waiting time, though.
Part of the menu are a soup and a salad, so, the lunch started with a “cold Mexican yogurt soup”, which was refreshing since it was cold, but it was also somewhat weird in terms of flavour profile.
The “market salad” on the other hand was normal and nice, i.e., enjoyable.
As a main course, I went for the “green spelt corn godets served in a lemon sauce with a zucchini bell pepper combo on fennel” (CHF 24.00), which was very vegetarian, but which was also, all in all, surprisingly enjoyable.
Overall, if you’re close to the train station of Bern, then it’s definitely okay to walk a few minutes up the hill to get here and enjoy your time in the garden of the Veranda.
