Quite a bit overrated, especially compared to the other restaurants of Zineb Hattab: Restaurant COR (29. June 2023)
The COR is a restaurant, or rather a wine bar, which is quite hyped in my opinion. The place is run by Zineb Hattab, the same chef who runs Dar and Kle, and while those two are definitely quite amazing, I’m not sure I’m getting to the same conclusion when it comes to COR. I had high hopes since if Zineb was running the place, but they were definitely not reached. To be fair, though, the service was friendly and made sure you have something to drink in no time.
When ordering food, we decided to go for a few things, but frankly, they were a bit disappointing. The “xips amb salsa (potato crisps with salsa)” (CHF 9.00) were generally okay as there were nicely thick. The fact that they are bought, though, and that there is just some sauce poured over it, makes charging CHF 9.00 for this quite a rip-off.
The “olives marinades fetes a casa (house olive mix)” (CHF 6.00), on the other hand, are actually quite lovely, as they are great in terms of texture and combination with the coating.
The “truita de patates amb aioli (Spanish omelette with aioli)” (CHF 12.00) was quite of a disappointment. I have definitely had better tortilla in the past, and the aioli didn’t taste like aioli much anyway.
My favourite this evening was the “pebrot de piquillo farcit (crème fraîche stuffed peppers)” (CHF 8.00) as it was aromatic and overall quite enjoyable. Still, considering the size and the value of it, I also find CHF 8.00 definitely over the top.
My personal highlight in terms of disappointment were “La Croqueta” (CHF 5.00 each). Firstly, CHF 5.00 for a croquette is just off. And, secondly, the taste wasn’t that amazing either. I’m not sure if they had a bad evening, or something was wrong, or what happened, but I was rather disappointed by the whole thing.
So, as much as I can recommend you to go visit the Kle or the Dar, I would definitely not recommend you to pay the COR a visit.
