Looking better than it is – somehow, a bit hyped and rated too high: Restaurant Terra Steakhouse Kirchberg (5. July 2023)

It’s rather hard to find a restaurant, which is still open at around 3.30pm and serves food. Luckily, there was one a bit away from the city centre of Luxembourg. After a short cab ride, it was finally time to get something to eat. I think we disturbed the crew during their break (we had called and asked before though), so, only one guy was attending us, and he did so more reluctantly (and not so attentive) than one would have hoped for.

I went for the “Angus beef tacos (truffle mayo, jalapeño, corn, coriander, red onion)” (EUR 11.50) as a starter, and while I had high hopes, they were not really met. The tacos were rather dull and really lacked that little bit extra, which makes you go back to tacos over and over again.

As a main, I went for the “Argentinian beef fillet (250gr)” (EUR 29.00) with some “French Fries, Salad, and Sauce Béarnaise” on the side. And while the meat only looks so, so appealing, it was actually quite nice. The meat was cooked to temperature and had a nice flavour profile. On top of that, the little crust from the grill increased that flavour profile and added a tiny bit of crunch to the meal.

The food is, generally speaking, or at least looking at the main course, good. However, this might also be attributed to the fact that they age their meat right there and then, ensuring that there is a steady source for that meat.

All in all, the Terra Steakhouse is decent – meat quality is good, place is decent, and from an atmosphere perspective it’s also quite okay. It’s not worth the ride there, but if you’re hungry and in the vicinity, it’s absolutely okay to pay this place a visit.
