Decent Italian food experience in a nice, but noisy location: Restaurant Zafferano (10. July 2023)
It’s a while ago since I’ve last been to the Zunfthaus zu Safran, so, I figured, why not try this place again, and after all, it has a rating of approx. 4.6 on Google. And I must say, this is largely deserved. I went for the “Gazpacho ‘Zafferano’ (chilled tomato and cucumber soup)” (CHF 15.00), which was surprisingly nice. I mean, sure, the size of the soup isn’t very satisfactory, but at leat it’s good in terms of flavour profile.
The “risotto fiori di zucca, stracciatella e tartara di gamberi (risotto with zucchini flowers, burrata cream and shrimp tartare)” (CHF 35.00) is a rather large portion of risotto, and it was prepared perfectly in terms of texture and combination of ingredients. However, the amount of risotto was a bit over the top.
To sum it up, the Zafferano is a nice place if you get one of the tables outside, with the downside that the tram tracks are right next to the restaurants, hence, it was a bit annoying to always have this rather noisy background.
