A decent Vietnamese lunch option in central Zurich: Restaurant Saigon (12. July 2023)
I have passed by the Saigon that many times, that I was really curious how it would actually be. And it works surprisingly well as a take-away and dine-in restaurant. I went for the “Goi Cuon Bo (summer roll with seasoned lemongrass beef, peanuts, salad, mint)” (CHF 8.50), which was a lovely starter, but the sauce was a bit non-eventful.
As a main, I went for the “Vit Chien (fried duck breast with oyster sauce and vegetables)” (CHF 28.50), which was quite okay. The duck was plenty, and the quality of the meat was overall rather good. Personally, I found the dish lacking a bit of excitement, as the oyster sauce, even if good, is not really something too special in terms of flavour combination.
The only downside to the place was the heat – when you’re seated inside for approximately 1.5 hours, then it becomes definitely too hot to remain enjoyable.
