A great Turkish lunch experience: Restaurant Meyhanè (15. August 2023)
The restaurant Meyhanè is a nice alternative to most of the restaurants in the area. It offers Turkish food in a good quality in a nice atmosphere, friendly service, and for a fair price. I went for the “Meyhanè discovery (kadinbudu, fish balls, 4 varieties of meze)” (CHF 26.50), which is basically a nice assortment of different meze and a few other nibbles. There is also a vegetarian version, which looks equally good.
The “mashed potatoes” ordered “on top” were quite nice and buttery, so, you would really have everything you’d need for lunch.
The “Muhallebi” (CHF 10.50), which is some kind of sweet vanilla-based dessert, is definitely worth trying. I’m usually not a big fan of sweets, but it was actually super tasty and quite enjoyable.
The “Baklava” (CHF 12.00) was equally tasty, but I always find it a bit difficult since it’s super sticky and basically glues your teeth together, which is a bit uncomfortable (and super annoying if you don’t have any toothpicks at hand).
Last but not least, I decided to go for a “Turkish coffee” (CHF 4.90), which was nicely strong and enjoyable. However, you have to keep in mind that you have to be careful when drinking it as else you will suddenly end up with a mouthful of coffee grounds.
All in all, I quite liked the Meyhanè as it offers everything you need and want: Good food in a nice atmosphere, fair prices, and friendly service. So, definitely a place I can recommend for lunch, especially since they are also rather swift in serving, which is kind of key for a business lunch.
