A place, which is definitely worth visiting for the food and the place itself: Restaurant Spitz (5. September 2023)

It’s a bit ago since I’ve last been to the Restaurant Spitz, but it turns out this is actually a place one should frequent more often. Once you’re seated, you are served some “bread and spread”, which is quite nice, i.e., the bread quality is good, and the spread is quite enjoyable too.

As a starter, I went for the “bone marrow from the oven with lemon, parsley, and grilled bread” (CHF 18.00), which looks tiny at first, but actually turns out to be quite a decent portion. And frankly, it’s definitely on the tastier side of things when it comes to the flavour profile.

As a main course, I went for the “grilled onglet with Romesco sauce, nettles, and potato cut with sour cream” (CHF 46.00) and I must admit the dish was not massive in terms of size, but very enjoyable in terms of quality of the food.

The place is simple, but definitely appealing, i.e., the way the place is set up is quite nice – and if you get to sit outside, despite the fact that it’s located quite close to the main station and, hence, faces a lot of traffic, it is nicely quiet and enjoyable.

The waiter was friendly and attentive – although his attentiveness was varying substantially depending on the time of the evening. Sometimes, we had to ask more than once for another glass of wine – until it was finally served. But again, all in all, the Spitz is a good combination of nice food, lovely atmosphere, competent service, and all of this for a fair price.
