Nice food, but somehow the service isn’t on top of things: Restaurant Le Lyrique (13. September 2023)
When it’s raining outside in a way that every single cell of your body is soaking wet, then coming into the Le Lyrique is helpful for sure – since it shelters you from the rain. However, you have to be a bit patient until someone attends you. Once that was achieved, I had ordered the “roast beef froid, gelée au sherry, jardin de légumes au vinaigre et sauce tartare” (CHF 44.00). You have to be very careful, though, when ordering in English as not everyone in Geneva speaks English so that they understand. When the waitress mentioned something with truffles, I was alarmed, since I hadn’t ordered anything in that direction. Hence, I re-explained to make sure I get the right thing – which I eventually did.
The dish was quite lovely in terms of flavour combination – absolutely enjoyable. Paying CHF 44.00 for it definitely seemed off to me, though. Like, if we talk CHF 36.00 – CHF 38.00, I’d say that’s acceptable. When we talk CHF 40.00+, then I find it a bit of a rip-off. In any case, the Le Lyrique is well-booked, so booking your table in advance is highly recommended.
