All in all great, and still the best view over Luxembourg: Restaurant L’Observatoire @ Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal (18. September 2023)

It seems that I end up dining in the same place whenever I’m in Luxembourg – the L’Observatoire. And given the view you have onto Luxembourg City, it’s actually quite understandable. In any case, we decided to have a joint dinner and to share a few plates, so, I went for the “Fatya Africaine (chicken fataya, Toum sauce)” (EUR 16.00), which looked a bit dry, but actually turned out to be very enjoyable, especially since the stuffing of the dish was super tasty.

The selection of “croquetas with chorizo, fish, lemon and mint, with blue cheese (3 pieces each)” (EUR 25.00) was a bit weird. According to the menu, there should have been three of each type of croqueta, however, given there were four different ones, and only nine croquetas, something didn’t add up, mathematically. On top of that, some of them were really not that enjoyable.

As a main course, I went for the “beef tartare with Mediterranean flavours” (EUR 29.00) and I must say, I liked how they prepared the dish at the table, and the quality of the meat. The fries were quite enjoyable too.

All in all, the L’Observatoire is a lovely place with a great view, fair food, and fair prices. On top of that, the staff is super friendly and attentive, and makes sure you have everything you need and want. Booking in advance is highly recommended.
