A nice place with French bistro vibes: Restaurant Bistrot Dumas (26. September 2023)
The Bistrot Dumas was recommended on the Guide Michelin app as a BibGourmand find – hence, I decided to give it a try. It is a bit in the outskirts of Geneva, but worth the small travel (be it by bus or by foot). Once you’re seated, you get a small “amuse bouche”, which was rather enjoyable.
Given I love to try the things, which I usually don’t get to enjoy at home, I decided to go for the “Bouchot mussels cream with saffron” (CHF 18.00), which was decent, but not great. I mean, sure, it was a saffron soup and as such tasted nice. The mussels were also good, but somehow it had a bit of a dull taste – like it was missing something.
As a main course, I went for the “beef cheek tagine, candied shallots, cumin carrots, semolina” (CHF 38.00) – and I absolutely loved it. The beef cheek is super smooth and basically falls apart the moment you take it into your mouth. On top of that, the flavour profile of the dish was great. However, there could definitely have been a bit more meat in the whole dish (like a second beef cheek).
The place has a French bistrot vibe and is quite nice in terms of interior. Simple, but nice. I liked that the tables weren’t as tiny as they are in these French bistrots. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure you would have everything in time.
