Tasty lunch, but too many vegetables in their signature dish: Restaurant HATO (6. October 2023)
It is years ago since I’ve last been at the HATO, but given it’s in walking distance of the office, I have decided to give the place another try. And I must say, it’s rather on the pricey side of things, but it’s worth visiting. I went for the “Hamachi (usuzukuri, yuzu truffle)” (CHF 28.00) as a starter and six slices of fish for CHF 4.66 each feels like a lot. In all fairness, the slices were incredibly tasty, though.
I went for their signature dish as a main, since it serves 1–2 people as a starter. The “Crispy Aromatic Duck Salad (signature dish, over 30 ingredients)” (CHF 38.00) is nice since it has a great variety of different ingredients, which is super enjoyable. However, what wasn’t so great was the duck – vegetables ratio. I mean, it’s a duck salad and there was definitely not enough duck in that salad (for my gusto).
The place is nice, and if you get to sit outside to take the last sun rays, then that’s pretty perfect. Other than that, the staff is friendly, attentive, and swift. So, all in all, the Restaurant HATO is definitely one you can visit when you’re looking for a quick bite for lunch.
