A delicious pop-up for meat lovers: Schnitzel- & Cordon Bleu-Pop-Up @ Restaurant Bistro k2 (6. October 2023)

| November 12, 2023 | 0 Comments

I have been to the k2 Bistro in the past, but I wasn’t aware they do a Cordon Bleu and schnitzel pop-up once in a while. And the good thing is, it’s not even in the main restaurant but really in the part behind in the Maag Halle, which is quite spacious and, hence, creates a very different atmosphere. To get started, an “Amaretto Sour” (CHF 15.00) was the drink of choice. Tasty drink, but a bit small in terms of amount in the glass.

I decided to go for something I would usually not go for and had the “Veal Cordon Bleu (380gr) with chilli cheese stuffing (ham with jalapeños and cheddar cheese) in Old BBQ breading (with bacon and smoke)” (CHF 54.50), “fried onion rings” (CHF 4.00) and a “mixed salad” (CHF 4.00). Firstly, the onion rings were good, the salad on the other hand was drenched in sauce and not the good kind of sauce but rather the disappointing kind which comes from the large kitchen bottle. That set aside, the veal cordon bleu was massive – and it was tasty too. I liked the spiciness caused by the jalapeños. The issue was, though, that there was too much meat, which led to the challenge that you needed to eat quite a bit before reaching the cheese (which is the part which makes a cordon bleu so special).

All in all, the Schnitzel- & Cordon Bleu-Pop-Up is definitely something you should visit – especially, if you like meat. Booking in advance is highly recommended. It was almost empty around 6.30pm, but it turned out to be more than full, when we left around 8pm.
