Nice little Thai place with decent food: Restaurant Baï-Toey (9. October 2023)
It wasn’t entirely easy to find a restaurant, which was still open at 9pm, but the Baï-Toey was still open, and located close to the hotel I was staying at. I went for the “Yam Nuea Yang (grilled beef salad with lemongrass)” (CHF 13.00) as a starter, and while it was tasty, and the beef was good, I was somewhat missing some kind of dressing.
As a main course, I went for the “Kaeng Khiew (green curry is the spiciest curry composed of coriander grain, cumin, lemongrass, ginger, Thai basil eggplants as well as kaffir leaves and coconut milk with chicken)” (CHF 26.00) and had asked for “Khao Pad Pak (Fried Rice)” (CHF 5.00). Well, to be precise, they asked if I wanted fried rice with it, and I said that I wanted it. I wasn’t informed, though, that this would cost extra. Now, personally, I think the price is okay, but it would have been nice to get a heads-up. The green curry was delicious, but also nicely spicy, so you would have to be careful to not eat too much of it at once.
The place is tiny, and you can call yourself lucky if you want to score a table last minute, because there really isn’t much space. However, the staff is friendly and attentive. Given there is just one waiter, you sometimes need to be a bit patient (e.g., when he was serving another table, there is literally no one who could attend you). All in all, I liked the Baï-Toey as it offered tasty food, for fair prices, in a cosy atmosphere, with friendly service.
