After the second try – try the beef shoyu: Restaurant Susuru (10. October 2023)
It doesn’t happen often that I return to a place where I have just been to recently, but the Susuru is positioned so conveniently close, and they offer great dishes, I decided to give it another try. This time to get a bit of a larger starter selection like the “homemade Japanese grilled beef gyoza (6 pieces)” (CHF 15.00), the “Karaage” (CHF 9.50) and the “Black Tiger tempura shrimp” (CHF 8.00). Personally, the gyozas are still enjoyable, but I definitely liked the karaage even more. The tempura was okay – nothing amazing, but definitely okay.
As a main, this time I went for the “Beef Shoyu (chicken broth seasoned with soy sauce, beef cheek braised in sake and soy for 12 hours, marinated egg, sautéed chanterelles, pumpkin, fried spring onions)” (CHF 27.00) and I must say, it was absolutely delicious. The meat was incredibly tender and the bowl ingredients were damn rich. So, all in all, it was a super tasty dish.
The place remains equally small as before, but the atmosphere is still nice. On top of that, the service is friendly and makes sure you have everything you want and need. You just have to be a bit patient sometimes. Other than that, a good place for a relatively quick lunch break.
