Healthy, but not really feeling like a proper lunch place: Restaurant Roots @ Balboa (16. October 2023)
After almost a week of excessive delicious eating, I felt like I should have something light and healthy. Hence, the Roots @ Balboa is really a good place for that. I went for the “Daal Soup” (CHF 11.00) as a starter, which was quite nice. It can, potentially, even be used as a main course as the soup is quite thick and heavy, so, also rather filling.
As a main, I went for the “autumn salad (salad, kale, radish, avocado, apple, pomegranate, chick peas, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin seed vinaigrette)” (CHF 22.00), which was definitely enough and also great in terms of combination of flavours and texture. What wasn’t so great was the timing of the different courses, or what I label courses. The soup and the salad were served at the same time, and after the dish for my company that day. Frankly, not entirely optimal in terms of ‘flow’, but well.
All in all, the Roots @ Balbao is a gym and work place turned into a place for lunch. It works, but it isn’t the atmospheric kind of surrounding you look for in a good restaurant. Quick, tasty, healthy, fair in price. That sums it about up.
