Still a nice bar, but not at the peak of its performance anymore: Raygrodski Bar (23. October 2023)
About once every one to two years I’m returning to the Raygrodski, as it remains a simple, but nice place, which offers good drinks, and is open on a Monday evening. Firstly, I went for the “Mastix (mastisha, tropical vermouth, cucumber, sparkling wine)” (CHF 17.00), which was nice, but somehow I was missing a bit the little extra. They used to have drinks, which were much more inspiring than this. In any case, since I like the taste of mastica, I enjoyed the drink.
Secondly, I went for the “Citrus Love (tanqueray gin, bergamot, yuzu, pink grapefruit soda)” (CHF 18.00), which was nice and refreshing, but far from something exciting. The place was relatively empty around 10.30pm on a Monday. The staff was swift and friendly – making sure you’d have everything you wanted and needed.
What I kind of like – on top of the generally nice atmosphere, the good service and the tasty drinks – is the tags in the toilet.
All in all, the Raygrodski remains a nice place, but it feels a bit like it starting losing its special sparkle.
