Quite a decent place for dinner, but a bit on the pricier side: Restaurant The Foundry (25. October 2023)

| December 18, 2023 | 0 Comments

If you want to treat yourself with a nice meal after a rough day, then The Foundry is pretty much the perfect place. Maybe with the side comment that the background music is rather loud, so it isn’t entirely optimal to have longer phone calls. Other than that, the place is lovely in terms of interior design, but – admittedly – doesn’t look too appealing to walk in from the outside. Once you’re seated, you’re served “bread & olive oil”, which is quite nice.

I then went for the “tuna tacos with avocado and lime in crispy shells” (CHF 17.00) as a starter, and I must admit, I had over-read the ‘crispy’ in the description, so I wasn’t too excited about the tacos.

The “sea bass ceviche with jalapeños, chilli and corn” (CHF 22.00) was lovely and good in quality too. For both dishes, though, the size was rather limited, hence, it turned out to be a bit of a disappointment in terms of price-performance ratio.

As a main, I went for the “char grilled sirloin, on a herb butter sauce and served with French fries” (CHF 50.00) and this was actually nice. The meat quality is good, the temperature of the meat is good as well, and it is not served overly cooked, so you can decide on how you want to eat the meat, i.e., at what temperature. The fries were surprisingly good too. So, all in all, the food is quite decent and definitely worth trying. However, when it comes to the price performance ratio, then all of it feels a bit overpriced.

The interior is nice, a bit too loud in terms of background music, but I must admit, the staff is super friendly and attentive. There, they definitely deserve 5 stars! All in all, I like The Foundry – nice food, a bit on the pricier side of things, and super friendly service.
