Always a great vegetarian option for dinner: Neue Taverne (26. October 2023)
I keep coming back to the Neue Taverne or a give or take regular basis – as it really turns out to be one of my more preferred vegetarian places in Zurich, as they are really non-pretentious about it. We went for the “sourdough bread from the Eigenbrötler, dip” (CHF 7.50) and the “couscous, bell pepper, pomegranate, salanova, labneh” (CHF 23.00) to get started. And while I like the sourdough bread, I must say, I found the couscous dish actually exquisite.
Then, we went for the “mountain potato, herb dip, onsen egg” (CHF 26.00), which was intense in terms of flavour profile, but also great in terms of flavour combination. The “kale, kumquat, Jerusalem artichoke, kaffir oil” (CHF 23.00) didn’t look too appealing, but actually turned out to be super nice. In any case, as I had eaten at a company internal event before, I wasn’t all too hungry.
On top of the good food, which is also priced fairly, the place is nice from an interior design perspective, and the staff is friendly and attentive throughout the whole evening. And even if you’re the last table at 11pm, you’re not shooed away, but actually still attended in a friendly and caring manner. Booking in advance is super highly recommended!
