A simple, but amazing place to get delicious seafood for a fair price: Restaurant Cervejaria Ramiro (3. November 2023)

The Cervejaria Ramiro had been recommended to me by more than one person, so, I decided to give it a try. It is not easy to get a booking unless you either book way in advance or you take the chance and do a walk-in to try to get a table last minute. I was lucky that it’s always possible to find a slot for one person, so, I was lucky enough to have a luscious lunch here. I went for the “glass prawns (100gr)” (EUR 8.25), which were absolutely delicious, but rather annoying to take apart. So, you had to basically peel every single one step by step, which was quite a cumbersome task. The “bread with butter” (EUR 2.16), which kind of comes as a standard was rather nice too, and went super well with the pata negra.

The “pata negra 5j Sanchez” (EUR 15.43) is not necessarily something you need to try in a marisceria, but given this is something, which costs so much more in Switzerland, I decided to still order that. And I must say, in combination with the bread and butter, it was a rather delicious bite.

The “cream cheese” (EUR 4.60), which was another element of my starter selection, was rather intense and definitely not for those who do not like intense cheese flavours. However, if you like it, then it’s rather nice.

What I absolutely loved was the “spider crab (750gr)” (EUR 27.69), which was definitely intense in flavour. The disappointment with these is always that you get a lot of weight, but there is not too much meat as there is a lot of ‘crab shell’, which protects the meat. However, the quality of the meat is great and if you are patient enough to ‘hammer’ the rest open, you get a few really nice bites.

My absolute favourite that lunch session were the “tiger prawns (grilled)” (EUR 63.36 / kilo). I mean, sure, tiger prawns are always delicious and especially in combination with butter, which is more than luscious, the dish is incredibly tasty.

So, the place is rather simple all in all, but what is great is the quality of the dishes – everything is fresh and super rich in terms of flavour profile. I was lucky enough to also see where they ‘store’ the fresh dishes, which does not look as nice as when it’s served on your plate.

In any case, if you are into seafood, then I can highly recommend you to give the Cervejaria Ramiro a try. Make sure to book in advance and make sure to come with an empty stomach so you get to enjoy as much as you potentially can.
