A place, which serves memorable dishes like maple bacon and rosemary spinach: Restaurant Hawksmoor Spitalfields (11. November 2023)

Only after uploading the pictures for this post, I had realised that I’ve already been to the Hawksmoor Spitalfields once before in February 2020. However, I had already rated the place quite well back then, and I can just reconfirm that. We went for the “Old Spot Belly Ribs (vinegar slaw)” (GBP 15.00) as one starter, and both, the belly ribs, and the vinegar slaw were actually delicious. The belly ribs were so damn tender, that they would easily fall apart, when you worked on them with a fork. On the other hand, they were so aromatic that it was truly delicious to get your palate started.

The “bone marrow with onions and sourdough toast” (GBP 11.00) was nice too, but the balance between onions and bone marrow was off as there were too many onions and not enough bone marrow for my personal taste. However, the combination absolutely worked and went well with the sourdough toast.

I went for the “sirloin (400gr)” (GBP 39.50) as a main and it was high quality meat, which was prepared to perfection! Frankly, more than delicious and absolutely outstanding in terms of meat quality and cooked to perfection.

Then, the really fun part begun. We had a few different sides like the “beef fried fries” (GBP 6.00), which were nice, but then the things, which really makes a difference when you think about a particular dining experience, were served. The “anchovy hollandaise” (GBP 4.00) was exquisite. I mean, I absolutely loved it – so flavourful, so intense, so good with the fries! And the “creamed spinach” (7.00), which was labelled as just that was actually infused with rosemary, and let me tell you, OMG, it was so delicious. But it got even better!

The “maple bacon” (GBP 5.00) was a revelation! The flavour profile! The intensity! The deliciousness! Frankly, it was so hard to not just order three more and eat them all! They were incredibly delicious and really just mouth-watering in a way which still makes my mouth salivate when I think about them now while writing the review.

Last but not least, we decided to have some ice cream to share like the “clotted ice cream” (GBP 4.00), which was quite interesting, as well as the “salted caramel” (GBP 4.00), which was incredibly smooth, but lovely in terms of flavour too.

On top of that, the place is quite nice, and you have a bit of space between the tables, which actually allows you to have a private conversation. On top of that, the waiter was friendly and relatively swift, so, in summary, the Hawksmoor Spitalfields experience was a more than pleasant one! I’m pretty sure I’ll return again to get some maple bacon!
