The perfect alternative to a Saturday morning breakfast: Oranjezicht City Farm Market (2. December 2023)
If you’re looking for an authentic and nice market experience on a Saturday morning as an alternative to your regular breakfast, the Oranjezicht City Farm Market is a good choice. Make sure you’re having a bit of time to spend there to stroll through the food options before deciding. I decided to have the “Chicken Dumplings” (60 ZAR), which looked better than they were. All just lukewarm and not really too much flavour either, so, not what I would recommend.
The “Smokey Joe (toasted pain de mie, bacon, cheese & dusted with smoked paprika)” (90 ZAR) did look a lot more promising, but actually turned out to be semi amazing. Somehow it was a too greasy, but it was lacking a nice flavour profile.
Despite my poor choices when it comes to food, the place is lovely as it really offers all kinds of food and drink stalls, but also more traditional shops and marketplaces.
So, if you spend a longer period of time in Cape Town, or you’re even living here, then you should definitely become a regular at the Oranjezicht City Farm market!
In a nutshell, I didn’t make the best choices when it comes to food, but it was definitely a lovely place and a great experience, and definitely a place I would visit again when going to Cape Town.
