A gem in the making: Restaurant Ikaa bistro อี๊ก่ะ บิสโตร (20. December 2023)

| March 1, 2024 | 0 Comments

Given we intended to go to a place, where we had booked a table for 7pm the evening before, but the table wasn’t ready, we ended up in another place, but didn’t regret it. The “Restaurant Ikaa bistro อี๊ก่ะ บิสโตร” has opened only recently, and that was still somewhat visible, since the inside was still work in progress in some parts, but it looks nice. We went for a few different dishes like the “Myanmese tea salad (served with tortilla chips)” (119 THB), which was delicious, but didn’t really need the tortilla chips.

The “smoked duck salad” (199 THB) was quite amazing as well as the duck was superbly tender and, hence, incredibly enjoyable. In combination with the salad, the dish was absolutely fine to enjoy.

Last but not least, they prepared “chicken noodle” (79 THB), which was truly simple, but as simple as it was, as enjoyable every bite was.

The “smoked duck breast noodle” (129 THB) was quite nice as well. The same tender meat quality of the duck, and the little dark brown shavings on top really added to the dish. Plus, the noodles were really kind of perfect.

The next one was a bit misleading, as I had missed the header “pie”, but the “chicken curry port pie served with salad” (219 THB) was definitely something I had not tried before. However, it was not something I definitely need to have again. Sure, it was good, no question asked, but it wasn’t that amazing in the end.

The “tasty pork cheek noodle” (119 THB) was okay. The pork was generally enjoyable, and the rice went well with it. In combination with the rather spicy sauce, it made for a quite delicious dish.

What I liked a lot as well was the “picanha with garlic rice” (199 THB), since the meat was of great quality, and it went well with the fried garlic and the spring onion.

Last but not least, the place is also nice due to the view you have – if you are enjoying your “large Singha” (95 THB) at one of the two large windows, which allow you to observe what happens in the street below, then this is actually quite lovely.

The interior is very simple and functional, so, you there are a few tables, but the distance between the single tables is larger than in 3-Star Michelin restaurants, so, they definitely have a bit of space to put some more tables in there.

The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, and makes sure that you have everything you need and want at all times. You can really see that they try to provide you with a nice experience, and in all fairness, they succeed.
