When you’re trying their works in their own home: Dumplings @ Quan Thang Ancient House (26. December 2023)
When doing our walking tour with our tour guide, we were led to the oldest house in Hoi An, called ‘Quan Thang Ancient House’. It’s fascinating to see how they are opening up their family home to foreigners coming in. Since they do not really earn a lot with that, they have decided to do something new and have started preparing dumplings, which they also sell to the restaurants in Hoi An. However, you can try them there and then. We went for the “White Rose Dumplings” (40’000 VND), which were actually quite enjoyable.
It is interesting to watch the family prepare the dumplings …
… including the “white rose dumplings”. It seems to be relatively cumbersome work, taking quite a bit of time until the dumplings are prepared. Other than that, the place is simple, but still it feels nice.
Sure, this isn’t really something like a restaurant, but it’s rather a place of food production, where they also sell what they produce, and I must admit, it is quite nice to try it where they prepare it. In any case, independently of the fact if you eat here or not, it’s worth visiting the place.
