An amazing restaurant located in a library-themed hotel: Restaurant The Page @ The Library Hotel (13. January 2024)

The Page in The Library Hotel is a place you would have never expected to be there. It is located in one of the streets of Chaweng and the entrance is super-well hidden. Like, you wouldn’t walk in there. But once you do, you’re rewarded wiht a beautiful setting and a truly great concept. The whole place is built around the idea of a library, and there is an actual library on premise. The restaurant is called ‘The Page’, the lobby is called ‘The Content’, and the rooms are called ‘Page 1 to X’. Frankly, loved it already then!

Once you’re seated by the beachfront, a little appetitzer is served in the form of a “Tom Yam”, which is definitely enjoyable to get your palate started.

With that, some “bread & butter & olive oil” follow, and it’s great to get some good quality bread with tasty butter after quite a while.

I then went for the “Khanom Bueng Goong (savory crab crêpe bites consisting of seasoned coconut and shrimp)” (480 THB), which are simple bites, but they are quite intense in terms of flavour, and the crab meat really gets out, which is lovely in terms of flavour and taste.

The “Nua Yang Nam Jim Jeaw (Thai-style grilled Australian sirloin with chili & tamarind sauce)” (490 THB) looked amazing, but again, I was missing the grill flavours and the flavour of the meat itself. I mean, sure, it tasted like meat, but a stripe by itself without the chili and tamarind sauce was just somehow lacking a bit of everything.

The fact that they even served a palate cleanser was a nice surprise. And the “mango sorbet” was not only a nice surprise, but actually quite delicious.

Since there was a brief rain shower coming, dinner had to be moved inside, and the “Goong Krob Phad Prik Khing (crispy shrimp stir-fried in red curry)” (380 THB) was a fascinating dish. The shrimp was fried whole, meaning, you would eat everything. Head, tail, legs, everything. The red curry paste, in which it was prepared, was rather intense in flavour, so after about 3/4 of the dish, I had enough since it was just too intense.

The “Alpha Queen (mangosteen juice, lychee juice, notes of lavender, citrus, ginger)” (190 THB) was a nice company to the dinner, since it had the mangosteen flavour, which is something we typically don’t get in Europe. So, definitely a drink worth trying when you’re here.

What you can see here is the actual library at ‘The Red Pool’ – I loved the idea that you get a whole set of books for you to chill, enjoy and read, when you are on holiday here.

And as you can see, the restaurant logo is surrounded by little figures, which are dedicated to reading. Especially in today’s times of ‘rushed social media’ it is incredible to find such a place dedicated to books and reading.

And the way it’s all built is just beautiful. As you can see, the walkway from ‘The Content’ to ‘The Page’ is really just beautiful.

Dining at The Page is once again a reconfirmation for me that you need to do some proper research when you’re intending to go for dinner, that you need to make sure to figure out where you want to go instead of just randomly walking around and potentially stumbling into something good. I believe once in a while you’re lucky to find something great, mostly, it will be disappointing. The Page was definitely worth the research – great place, good food, professional service, and all of it for a fair price!
