8. September 2011: Restaurant Zen in the Westin Grand Hotel
The bento box (EUR 9.50) as a lunch menu is quite a good choice. At first (on top of your actual bento box) you get a soup served – while it is nothing really special, it is quite okay in taste. After you’re done with the soup, the waitress comes and takes the top of the box away.
In the box you can find dumplings, some vegetable salad, and basically the bento mix (in this case it was duck), spicy sauce, and some rice. While the single parts by themselves have not really been outstanding, in combination they are quite good. The dumplings taste somewhat surprising as they have a sweet element.
Overall, the bento box is a good and sound lunch meal for a very decent price. Nothing outstanding or special, and frankly, the dishes on the menu (at least what I’ve tried so far) are way tastier, but still, a good meal overall.
The atmosphere in the Restaurant Zen in the Westin Grand Hotel is nice, spacious, in the middle there is a little zen garden, so it is all pretty nice. The service is friendly and helpful and to your fullest attention.
Overall, the Restaurant Zen is a nice alternative to have some Japanese food for lunch as a change to the regularly heavy German food.
