9. September 2011: Restaurant LuMina

| September 11, 2011 | 0 Comments

The bread basket with some kind of mayonnaise based sauce is not really overwhelming. The bread is good but the sauce-like mayonnaise is tasteless – it does not even taste much like mayonnaise.

The main course on the other hand, salmon with herb butter and tomato pasta (EUR 11.00) was okay. The pasta was overcooked and did not taste like much – so that was definitely no revelation. The salmon on the other hand was good. It was almost the perfect combination of juicy and crispy (a bit too crispy and not juicy enough though to bring it to the point). While my experience tells me that EUR 11.00 is rather much for a lunch dish in Germany, I consider it okay given the fact that salmon is not really cheap and it was okay.

The atmosphere is pretty okay – it is somehow one of these places which seem to be modern because they are spacious, have large glass windows, and the interior is modern chic. But also, you can feel the sterility – which makes it less appealing.

The service is very friendly and gets all the orders right – but they are damn slow! We had to wait more than 30 minutes for our course, definitely too much in my opinion. Especially given that we were the first ones in for lunch.

The San Pellegrino (0,7L; EUR 4.90) is quite cheap and frankly, overall, you can go to the Restaurant LuMina for lunch. My food was not overwhelming at all but it was eatable. Personally, I consider it slightly expensive compared to what you usually get but it is okay and if you make the service move faster, I guess it can be even a bit more than okay.
