9. & 10. September 2011: Restaurant Besitos – Tapas y más

| September 11, 2011 | 0 Comments

The Restaurant Besitos Taps y más has a nice selection of different tapas. We decided that a selection of six different tapas should be enough for two people – and it definitely was. The Gazpacho (a cold Andalusian tomato soup; EUR 3.90) was good in taste, refreshing, but quite a large portion. The Cangrejos en miel (crab tails in a honey mustard sauce; EUR 4.60) were good but the sauce kind of overlapped the taste of the crabs and, therefore, it was not optimal. The Patatas Besitos (spicy potato slices overbaked with cheese; EUR 3.30) were quite good but were also pretty spicy and the portion was rather big.

The Albóndigas (spicy meat balls; EUR 4.30) were tasteful in combination. The meat is not really of high quality but the combination with the sauce makes the whole thing pretty tasteful. The Taboulé salad (EUR 3.90) was light and tasteful – nothing to add here. The Chapiñones al ajillo (Champignons fried in garlic oil; EUR 3.50) were fresh and quite good in taste, overall. Somehow still, they didn’t seem of too high quality.

Overall, the tapas overall are pretty good and, overall, I can recommend going to the Restaurant Besitos Tapas y más to eat tapas. Also, the atmosphere is pretty nice – outside (although the restaurant is situated between two streets and you get the full noise of the street), there is a ltitle patio with very comfortable chairs and sofas, inside, the whole restaurant is lively, packed, and just nice.

The service is friendly and helpful – while they were quite slow on the 9th to serve drinks, they were a bit quicker on the 10th to serve the tapas. Overall, waiting time is still acceptable but close to the annoying. What was also massively annoying was the fact that on the 10th, their credit card system was down – and we could not pay by card (excuse me, is this my problem???).

The drinks (I had a City Pleasure and a Planter’s Punch) are quite okay. While the first was good (although, I have no benchmark here), the second was just about okay but drinkable. The prices are pretty fair – for the drinks but even better for the tapas!

Overall, I can recommend the Restaurant Besitos Tapas y Más: Okay drinks, good tapas, very fair prices, nice waitresses, a bit too long waiting time, a credit card system which was down, but quite a nice atmosphere.
