16. September 2011: Café Cord
The zander filet from the grill in prosecco lime sauce with glazed emperor’s shells and scented rice (about EUR 11.00) is quite okay. The prosecco lime sauce fits well with the zander and the rice, the emperor’s shells were not really cooked enough. The fish was quite okay though but nothing overwhelming.
The service varies a bit in quality. While we had to wait quite long initially until we got served, it got better with time. Still, attentiveness is not really their strongest point but when I decided to have a bottle of red wine and was not sure which to have, I asked if I can try a glass of each bottle which was offered and I got it served right away without any extra charge – something, frankly speaking, I would not have expected from this type of restaurant.
The prices are pretty fair overall, and the atmosphere is also nice. Outside you can sit in a courtyard which is protected from all sides, inside you have a lower and an upper floor. While the lower floor is quite okay, the upper floor is pretty nice.
Overall, the Café Cord is a nice café to have a glass of wine but it is definitely not my first choice when it comes to service or eating.
