22. October 2011: Ristorante Arigatò

| October 24, 2011 | 0 Comments

You like sushi, sashimi, nigiri? Then you definitely have to go to the Ristorante Arigatò! They have an awesome concept for lunch, you pay EUR 13.80 and you can eat as much as you want, order as many dishes as you want. The rule is simple, everything you do not finish, you are going to pay in addition to the EUR 13.80 for the dish you have ordered and not finished. As long as you finish the dish, it is included in the EUR 13.80.

I decided to try quite a few things and started with “Ravioli alla griglia” (4 pieces: EUR 4.50). They were quite tasteful and fit perfectly with soy sauce and wasabi.

As a second course, I decided to have Sushi Misto #4 (EUR 8.80). The nigiri were great in taste – the fish was very fresh and the nigiri were just plain tasty!

Thirdly, I had 6 pieces of “Fresh Tonno Sushi” (EUR 6.80) which were also quite good but somehow there is just too much rice involved with those.

As a little break, I had Gamberoni on a stick (EUR 4.80) and Pollo on a stick (EUR 6.80) which were both good but the sauce strongly dominated the two things. Additionally, I had a platter of Sakana fry (EUR 10.80) which is basically different fried fish. It was quite tasty as fried stuff usually is, but to be honest, one has to admit that the fried taste was overwhelming.

Overall, the dishes were great. Rich in taste, offering a large variety of different things, and the whole thing was made freshly. And if you look at what I would have usually paid (EUR 47.00) and what I actually paid (EUR 13.80), the concept is just amazing. Although the place is not run by Japanese but by Chinese, I must admit, it is definitely a great sushi place and I can recommend everybody going there!

The service – one must be fair though – is not really outstanding. We tried ordering individually our dishes but they were not capable of doing that and just brought all together. Which is fine but does not really show a high degree of understanding. Additionally, their language skills are limited: English is difficult, and even Italian is not their strongest asset. But at least they serve you in time. Friendliness and understanding is not their strongest point but not because they are unfriendly but much more because they are not attentive.

The atmosphere of the place is actually quite nice. It is simply decorated, nicely furnished, and it is clean. It is not the fanciest place of course but it is nice, no doubt.

Overall, the Ristorante Arigatò is a great place for eating sushi at a very low price. The sushi is very tasty and the menu offers a great selection of various dishes. The service has room for improvement – still I can absolutely recommend going there!
