The starters buffet offers a nice variety of different starters: salmon, ham, goat cheese, melon, tomato mozzarrella salad, as well as a large salad buffet. The salmon was very rich in taste, the marinated goat cheese on the other hand was not that outstanding especially as they offered twice the same. But overall, the selection of starters is good.

The second course was barley soup (“Davoser Gerstensuppe”) with chive. It was rich, full with vegetables and bacon, and just very tasteful. A really original dish tasting originally good. Even if you do not eat at the Restaurant Waldhuus, you definitely should try a Barley Soup when you are in the Grisons.

The main course was a grilled back of a suckling pig with marinated cabbage and home-made spaetzle (additional CHF 14.00). The main course was quite okay but somehow not that great. Totally eatable but definitely no fireworks in your mouth.

The desert was a selection of sorbets which were quite good. The interesting part was that you were able to choose as many as you wanted for the same price.

Overall, the dishes in the Restaurant Waldhuus are okay but definitely not outstanding. The service is very friendly but a bit slow as we had to wait until the second course until our wine arrived. The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice but not outstanding either. The prices are pretty fair though, you pay CHF 35.00 (demi-pension) and you get the four courses menu. 0,5L Blaauwklippen Range, Red Landau (2005) costs CHF 32.00 and is pretty good.

To summarize the whole evening – food is okay, prices are fair, service is good, atmosphere is okay. Okay to dine there when you are staying at the Hotel Sheraton Waldhuus Davos anyway, otherwise not really worth going.
