22. December 2011: Ristorante Cantinetta Antinori

| December 23, 2011 | 0 Comments

The Filettini di manzo marinati (grilled marinated beef filet slices on rucola salad, served with fried potatoes (CHF 46.00) is very tasty. The meat is very tender and juicy, the rucola salad is fresh, and the cheese on top of the filet provides the dish with a little extra taste rounding it up. Also, they are able to grill the meat as requested – perfectly medium.

The rosemary potatoes which were served with the meat as a side dish have the decent taste of rosemary and are cooked just perfect to fit the meat but they are a tiny bit too oily.

The atmosphere of the Ristorante Cantinetta Antinori is nice. The place is pretty full for lunch time and it is somehow lively like in a restaurant in Italy. The interior is nicer on the upper floor than on the lower one but in both cases the tables are close to each other, there are a lot of wooden elements and overall it is somewhat nice.

We have been served by a waitress which was very friendly and also taking up our orders correctly. What was a bit of an outrage though was the fact that she charged us 2 bottles of red wine to the bill instead of 2 glasses. Only when we checked the bill we saw it (and saved us about CHF 160.00). Sure mistakes can happen but frankly they should not – especially not to that scale.

Nevertheless, eating at the Ristorante Cantinetta Antinori is a good decision. The place is okay, the service is good (besides the bill mistake), the food is very tasty and the prices are okay (for Zurich). A glass of white wine to start the lunch (Roero Arneis D.O.C.G., 2009, 1 DL) costs CHF 6.50 and a good glass of red wine for the main course (Bussia Barolo D.O.C.G., 2005, 1 DL) is CHF 18.50. So, if you have time and feel like eating good Italian food, I can recommend the Ristorante Cantinetta Antinori.
