11. January 2012: Restaurant LaBaracca

| January 15, 2012 | 0 Comments

The concept of the LaBaracca is to order various dishes and not in the row of starter, main, desert, but just in the order of “what I just feel like”. I started with ravioli (about EUR 6.90) which were quite tasty. The toppings over the ravioli were good.

The second course, a pumpkin soup (about EUR 4.90), was tasty based on its own taste – but also through the additional pumpkin seeds and the pumpkin seed oil. Gave it the intensity of pumpkin, the smoothness due to the soup, and the crunchiness due to the seeds.

The next round was a calamari spaghetti pan (about EUR 6.90). It was okay, but it was more like a bunch of spaghettis where somebody puts some calamari on top. Somehow there was no mixture, combination, fit of the tastes. While it was not bad due to bad preparation it was just plain boring – and it was no dish, it was stuff put together randomly.

As a last course, I had a risotto with king prawns (about EUR 6.90). The risotto was tasty, crunchy, but still cooked perfectly. The king prawns were well-cooked, tasty, and just perfectly matched with the risotto and its sauce.

Overall, all the dishes were pretty good, well-prepared and rich in taste – besides the spaghettis. They were definitely way below expectation. When it comes to the atmosphere, the place is pretty atmospheric, but you should make sure you sit in the back as the front is nice but it is not really that great as the light is too bright. The service is very friendly, a bit disorganized, but okay overall. The prices are more than okay – it just sums up if you eat some, but honestly, even if you have four dishes, it only accounts for about 30 EUR.

I was there the second time, and I must admit that the experience was a different one but also it was a good one again, so I can definitely recommend going to the Restaurant LaBaracca.
