24. February 2012: Restaurant Kim Sang

| February 26, 2012 | 1 Comments

The Restaurant Kim Sang just opened three weeks ago, and therefore, I tried to give it a shot – and I will go there again. As a starter I had Vietnamese spring rolls (EUR 2.90) which are quite different from the Chinese ones and they are definitely richer. Their stuffing is fuller and there is definitely more in them. Also, the fried crust is not as intense as with the regular spring rolls. Tasty starter it was.

As a main course I had fried noodles with chicken breast and vegetables (EUR 6.90). The noodles were good and the chicken breast were quite many and also astonishingly juicy. Overall, it was a good main course – not outstanding but good and sound and also fair in price.

The place is quite nice, modernly furnished, and you actually have enough space between the tables so you do not feel intrigued by the table next to you. The waiters are friendly, even able to make a joke, and helpful. What they are absolutely failing to do so at the moment, is to deliver on time. We were five people for lunch and we got our dishes at different times: two had sushi which came together, after that, each person’s main course was serviced separately. All in all, the time between the first main course served and the last may have been something between 5 and 10 minutes – definitely way too long of a gap between the single ones.

Nevertheless, the dishes are quite good, they have very nice tea from fresh ginger (EUR 3.50 for a pot), the prices are pretty fair in general, atmosphere is quite okay and finally, the service is friendly (but fails to deliver at the same time although one has to blame the kitchen with regards to this). Still, I will definitely go there again – that not everything works perfectly well within the first two to three weeks of being open is quite expectable.
