3. March 2012: Restaurant Schiesser Tea Room

| March 4, 2012 | 0 Comments

In order to get over the day I had the salmon plate with horseradish spume and brioche toaste (CHF 19.80). The portion is big enough for two, the salmon is fresh and taste-intense but not greasy like you often experience salmon in Switzerland or Germany. The horseradish spume is soft (not too intense) and the brioche toast very aromatic. Overall, it is quite a nice portion to have a little break during the day.

We had to wait quite a bit for it but the tea room has also been quite busy and the waitress nicely apologized when she brought the plate. What the tea room is quite good for is – what a surprise! – tea. I had a pot of lapsang souchong (south Chinese tea with smoke flavor; CHF 9.40). The tea is strong, taste-intense, especially the smoky aspect hits in pretty hard – great to just sit and have a look over the Marktplatz.

The interior of the team room is very nice – enitrely made of wood, all pretty old, dark wooden walls, old windows with view onto the Marktplatz – overall just pretty nice. The tables are rather small so you do not have too much space to host two pots of tea plus a plate of salmon but it works out somehow.

The waitress was quite friendly and helpful, but you could also see that she was not completely happy with what she was doing. Overall, I can recommend you the tea room Schiesser. Food is quite fine, tea is very good, nice atmosphere, great view and quite okay service.
