28. January 2010: Restaurant FIAT Open Lounge @Executive
The FIAT Open Lounge is located at the Executive ATA Hotel in Milan which is easily reachable by a 3 minutes footwalk from the Metro station Porta Garibaldi (green line). Although it’s a bit hidden, the entry hits you when you see it. It’s basically a big tent with a bouncer there who’s checking if you’re on the guest list.
The “hallway” which leads you to the Lounge is already quite impressive (in a funny way).
Once you walked down the hallway you can see why the lounge is called “FIAT Open Lounge”.
It seems to be a very nice place for the summer as you can sit outside then but it’s also absolutely persuasive for the winter as there’s a little glass shelter located in the middle which has a totally chilly, relaxing interior design.
The aperitivo buffet provided is quite good to. The breadth of the food offered is a bit narrow but the food itself is quite tasty. What comes in addition is the fact that the drinks cost only 8 €uros while the buffet is offered. So, quite a reasonable price for aperitivo in Milan and especially taking into account the given surrounding.
Furthermore, we were able to enjoy a live show of an Italian singer which provided us with music from the 70ies or 80ies (sorry, no clue). The performance was quite good and a welcome distraction every few minutes in order to refocus conversations after the performances.
The waiters are nice but a bit unattentive as it sometimes took them several minutes to realize that we wanted to get another order placed – and there weren’t that many people so we could have been overseen.
All in all, if you ever manage to get to the FIAT Open Lounge @Executive, go there! It’s absolutely worth it: Chilly atmosphere, live entertainment, good food, reasonable prices and nice people.
