20. April 2012: Restaurant DOTS – experimental sushi
Truly amazing!!! The Restaurant DOTS is a MUST when you are in Vienna and love Japanese cuisine! As a welcome present from the kitchen you get some lobster chips which fit pretty well with some cream cheese dip and soy sauce. For a change a different starter into the evening and a very tasteful one.
The mixed sushi platter was a dream come true. The absolutely greatest selection of sushi I had so far. There was tuna sashimi with gold foil, hello kitty sushi, rainbow sushi, spicy tuna sushi, steam cream cheese sushi, and many more. One more delicious than the other – truly a dream come true. The platter was gone within a few minutes as it was so damn delicious. One of my favourites was definitely the tuna bomb which was basically rice with tuna and a mint leaf on top of it – does not sound like much really but once you have tasted it you want more and more and more. There was only one thing missing to be the perfect sushi in Vienna …
… and that was the Wiener Schnitzel sushi. And even that one was delicious! So, to me, the perfect sushi place so far. I have never had so marvelous sushi in my entire life before!
But the Restaurant DOTS is not only persuasive because of the food which is served but also because of the great atmosphere, due to the music and also the crowd is pretty cool. The prices are fair – I would assume but unfortunately, I cannot tell as I was invited. It is for sure not cheap but I guess not too expensive either.
The service is good, quick, friendly and always there to refill your wine glasses and to take your orders within a few seconds. When our waiter was cleaning the table right next to us and we wanted to order he left everything there and went straight to us without telling us to wait until he was done (as you would see it happen in most of the restaurants).
All in all, if you like sushi and if you are in Vienna, it is a must to go to the Restaurant DOTS and it is very important that you book a table in advance as otherwise you will have no chance of actually getting a table. The food is delicious, marvelous, outstanding. The atmosphere is very nice, the crowd is great and the service on a very high level. The prices are accurate (looking at the online menu) for what you get.
