28. April 2012: Restaurant Adega & Presuntaria Transmontana II
The restaurant Adega & Presuntaria Transmontana II is definitely a great place to sit outside in the sun, have a beer and to enjoy the tapas. The pata negra was great, the meat selection was okay and the cheese selection was definitely good. Each plank accounts for about 10 EUR which is quite expensive for Porto but it is absolutely great in taste.
The olives (EUR 7.00) were some of the best olives I have had in my life. They were pretty small but fully stuffed with garlic – very intense garlic taste but truly amazing.
The waiter knows his job and does it well but somehow he lacked a bit in friendliness. When we first sat down and asked if it was possible to only drink something he pretty much tried to make us leave and just bluntly answered “no”. Only when I asked if it was okay when we had some tapas with the wine, he would let us stay. The place is pretty nice – it is located right next to the main street of the Villa Nova di Gaia (so right next to the sea shore) but at least it is the nicest restaurant in that street.
All in all, I can recommend the Restaurant Adega & Presuntaria Transmontana II – food is very tasty, the service is definitely not top-notch but that downside is compensated by the atmosphere (especially when it is sunny). The prices are relatively high but the place is nice all in all.
