30. January 2010: Restaurant Davide – Città del Drago

| January 30, 2010 | 1 Comments

The Ristorante Davide – Città del Drago is located in walking distance of the yellow metro line’s station “Porta Romana”. From the outside you can easily recognize that it’s a Chinese restaurant as the outside decoration clearly tells that – as well as the inside decoration.

The place looks quite nice and has a decent typical (or at least seen from the European perspective which hasn’t been to China so far) Chinese look. The only thing which bothers the eye, or better said, myself right away is the fact that the tables are really close to each other, meaning, you won’t have a lot of space around you. Still, it gives you also kind of a cozy feeling.

The waiters are friendly and come to your table within a short time – so you won’t have to wait long. What then actually takes you longer is to decide upon what you want to order as the card is quite exhaustive as it offers quite a lot of dishes.

When finally decided, I went for “Wanton” as a starter which I had with some (quote) “tomato sauce thingy”. Quite good, fried and therefore tasty already.

Followed by a “Insalata con Pollo”, which is basically green salad with chicken but astonishingly good (sorry to say, but I didn’t think salad was a Chinese thing to do).

The main dish then consisted of a mixed grill platter of different kinds of meat accompanied by “Rice in the style of Città del Dragone” (which is basically a mix of rice with eggs, shrimps and chicken) which was both quite tasty.

The highlight comes then in the form of a “fried icecream ball” – gelato fritto which not only looks impressive on the plate but also tastes amazing!

The dishes are really good – especially taking into account the price you pay for it. All these dishes together – for two people – including three bottles of water costed a total of 36 Euros. Amazing! Can’t say more about that!

A little drawback was the time we had to wait to be able to pay. Although we went to the cashier and told him we wanted to pay, he walked away and let us wait there for some minutes until someone else showed up.

In general, the “Città del Dragone” is the place to go if you like Chinese food, don’t want to pay much, have a nice atmosphere and really good and totally enough food!
