19. May 2012: Restaurant imagine Sihlcity

The “asparagus ravioli with a rucola tomato salad and balsamico cream” (CHF 10.00) was mouth-watering. The ravioli were cooked al dente and the stuffing was very rich in taste. The salad was a bit small but the balsamico which was on the ravioli gave it the special little something.

As a main course I had the “spicy spare ribs from the grill with coleslaw salad, a potato from the oven, sour cream and grilled peperoncini” (CHF 26.00). it was definitely not as good as the starter – the meat was okay but it somehow lacked the tasty sauce spare ribs should have. The salad was okay but not overwhelming as it seemed to me that the dressing came freshly from the can.

The bread which was brought to the table before the courses came was pretty good – it was some kind of fluffy tasty bread which fit very well together with the olive oil for which they provided a special small bowl.

When you had a two courses menu, you would only pay CHF 32.00 insted of the CHF 36.00. Well, our waitress did not quite catch that and put the dishes separately on the bill charging us more than they should have. When we complained and told her about her mistake her comment was “yeah, you can also do it like that”. Ehm, sorry??? If it is written on the menu that it costs CHF 32.00 if you have two courses then you better charge this option and do not put the dishes on the bill separately. Well, she got her reward and got no tip. Also, she seemed absolutely not liking her job which makes it very annoying as a guest to order something in addition as you almost feel bad for bothering her again.

The prices are pretty fair in general – looking at the menu (if it is charged correctly) or at a bottle of water (Henniez, 5dl, CHF 6.50) or a Cola Zero (CHF 4.80). The atmosphere is quite okay too – the interior is modernly designed, the view you have onto the inner courtyard of the Sihlcity shopping area is limitedly appealing but also not ugly.

Overall, if you are around the Sihlcity area you can definitely eat at the Restaurant imagine Sihlcity – the starter was delicious. But you should also not expect too much from the place.
