30. May 2012: Restaurant @Hotel Eichenhof
The bread which is brought to your table when you have ordered your menu which comes with two kinds of sauce (one kind of yoghurt with garlic and one kind of lard) is pretty regular.
For a main course I had a “Westfälisches Krüstchen” (2 Schnitzel with egg, fried potatoes and salad) for EUR 10.50. The meat is nothing high quality, the egg is good, the fried potatoes refined with bacon are tasty but quite greasy and the salad with the balsamico dressing is good but far from palatable. For the price, the dish is pretty okay though and you are definitely having enough with just a main course.
Generally, the prices are very moderate. A 0,3L beer for example only accounts for EUR 2.50. The atmosphere is nice and almost provides you with this feeling of being home – very cozy. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful and for a restaurant like this one the service is very good because they are very caring.
Overall, when you are staying at the Hotel Eichenhof, it is absolutely good to have dinner in the restaurant. If you are looking for something special, then this is not the place to go. But if you are looking for hearty and heavy dishes for reasonable prices, then this really might be it.
