27. July 2012: Restaurant Haute
The Restaurant Haute is a members-only club located over the roofs of Zurich and you can only access it with a member – obviously. I was there for lunch that day (CHF 54.00 for 3 courses) and it was definitely a great experience.
You are led to your table where bread and spread already welcomes you – both fresh and tasty.
A refreshing start into the lunch was the “cold yoghurt avocado soup with radish crostini”. The soup was light and flavourful.
Although I am not a big fan of pork, the “entrecôte of Iberico pork with pommes macaire and apple cream” was delicious. The meat was juicy, taste-intense, the fat layer was crisp and the pommes macaire together with the apple cream was just great.
For desert, a “cheese platter” was served – unfortunately that was all there was as the waitress did not mind to tell us what kind of cheese she had just served. Still, the selection was good – overall, the food was well-prepared and tasty.
What is truly impressive is the view you have all over Zurich – the Haute is located on the 13th floor of the building which allows you to see all over Zurich and to have a great view of the lake and even see the Alpes in the background (if it was not as foggy as it is on the picture).
The place itself is also nicely furnished with a stylish combination of green and wooden furniture. Just looks very appealing somehow. The personnel is great, the waitresses are friendly, helpful, discrete, and the service is very professional – the only little downturn was the fact that they missed to tell us what cheese was served.
If you have the chance to eat at the Restaurant Haute with a member you should do so – the food is very good, worth the money, good service, and the view is truly marvellous.
