24. August 2012: Catch of the Day Ritual @St. Regis Beach

The St. Regis Punta Mita has a few rituals which take place once a week and I was lucky enough to take part in the “Pesca del dia” ritual (catch of the day) which allows you to choose your fish you want to be prepared in the evening and takes place at the beautiful St. Regis private beach.

The ritual needs some preparation of course – first the ice has to be put in place so the fish will not become bad within seconds (with about 30 degrees Celsius outside).

When everything is prepared, the bell is rung, the catch is brought to the table, neatly aligned and is explained by experts. You can then choose your fish – as I just came from breakfast and was absolutely full, I was not able to think about dinner at that time.

But of course they also served fresh Ceviche with the “Catch of the Day” Ritual – very fresh, very refreshing also and great in taste. Only the crunchy elements which were spread over the ceviche would not have been necessary in my humble opinion.

The service was – as always at the St. Regis – great. The people were very friendly, very helpful, just the way you want service to be. When you are staying at the St. Regis, make sure you have the time to choose your fish (and maybe have breakfast early so you will not be too full to choose).
