18. October 2012: Restaurant A Barraca

| October 27, 2012 | 0 Comments

Having lunch at the Restaurant A Barraca is a great idea, given you have time … a loooot of time! Okay, let me get this straight: Good food needs its time to be prepared – sure, I am the first person to agree on that. But if you are in for a “business lunch” then 80 minutes for a soup and a main dish are too much!

Anyway, there is always one menu of the day, not much to choose from (besides the regular menu of course). This day it was a “scallion soup” as a starter. The dish was great in taste but pretty onion-intense and also quite a portion for a starter – but tasty.

The main course – waiting time approximately 40 to 45 minutes – was a “chicken joint in brandy sauce with potatoes and vegetables” (EUR 9.80 incl. the above mentioned soup). The chicken was absolutely delicious – it was still juicy and firm to the bite at the same time! Marvellous!

The place itself is pretty simply designed, a few tables, simple decoration but on the other hand one can see that the owner invested a lot of time in details to make the place nice and appealing – and she succeeded!

Talking of which, the owner is also the waitress and she is stunningly friendly and you can easily see that she is passionate about what she is doing which is highly appreciated. The service is very caring and dedicated but a bit slow.

If you look at the prices, then you must say that they are absolutely fair: a big soup and the chicken joint for EUR 9.80 is a fair deal and a small bottle of water (0,3L) for EUR 1.80 is good too.

All in all, I can definitely recommend the Restaurant A Barraca – great lunch, dedicated and caring service, nice atmosphere and very fair prices but you will have to be patient so you better not go when you are in a hurry to eat.
